When a national firearms publication takes your rifle into elk country and brings it back with a kill story, you pay attention. That's exactly what happened when Guns & Ammo featured Brenton USA in their dedicated AR-15 annual issue and writer Cody Eardley didn't hold back.
We Made the Pages of Guns & Ammo AR-15
This isn't the general Guns & Ammo monthly. This is their standalone AR-15 book, a publication dedicated entirely to the AR platform. Getting featured here means something. It's the kind of coverage that reaches serious shooters and hunters who know exactly what they're looking for.
Writer Cody Eardley took a hard look at the Brenton USA Guide rifle, chambered in 6mm ARC, and ran it through the kind of real-world testing we built it for.
What the Review Covered
Built for Hunters, Not Collectors
Eardley's review zeroed in on what makes Brenton's AR-15 Hunting Rifles different from the sea of AR-15s on the market. His takeaway? It's a no-frills workhorse that punches well above its price point.
Key features that made the cut:
- 18-inch stainless-steel barrel for a smart balance between velocity and field maneuverability
- 15-inch aluminum handguard free-floated to protect barrel harmonics, with a pear-shaped cross section that sits naturally in the hand

- Cerakote finish available in four colors: Bazooka Green, Wolf Grey, Overwatch Black, and Coyote Brown

The WOOX partnership was a standout mention. Eardley noted that the wood grips and stock bring something unique to the AR platform. Warm to the touch, durable, and built to be legal for hunting right out of the box.
Chamberings That Make Sense in the Field
Eardley put the Guide Series Adjustable Rifle through its paces in both 6mm ARC and 6.8 SPC II. He called the 6mm ARC his top pick for Western big-game hunting and we don't disagree. The long, high-BC bullets perform from close timber shots all the way to extended range.
The 6.8 SPC II upper also drew strong praise for whitetail hunters. A .277-caliber Barnes 95-grain TSX at woods-hunting distances is a serious terminal performance combination.
And those are just two of the 10+ chamberings we offer, from the flat-shooting .204 Ruger on the varmint end to the hard-hitting .450 Bushmaster for straight-wall cartridge states.
How It Shot
Eardley ran the Guide rifle suppressed with a BANISH Backcountry can throughout accuracy testing and in the field. The result? He described it as one of the most pleasant shooting experiences available on the AR platform.
The mil-spec trigger drew a mention too. Minimal creep and a 4.5-pound break. Not a match trigger, but nothing to apologize for. It did its job when it counted.
